The article deals with films based on the works of Abish Kekilbayev. A detailed analysis of the films by D. Manabay “Revenge” (2006) and J.Zhetiruov “The Well” (2017) was made, the emphasis was placed on reproducing the poetic sound of the prose of the writer in films. On the example of the mentioned films, the phenomenon of cinematography of literary works is revealed, the poetics of films are considered. Particular attention is directed to the study of screenpoetic traditions, the visual range and plot-dramatic construction of films, the poetic sound of the landscape in Kazakh cinema. The theoretical issues of film adaptation and its types are also considered on the example of the works of Abish Kekilbayev.
