Abstract The Jê-Speaking people have been object of anthropological approaches which have privileged above all sociological characteristics of their social organisations. This article offers – through an analysis of apinaje theories about spirits, illness, healthiness, death and postmortem life – an interpretation of apinaje cosmology which reveals a world in which elements are unified through the presence of the spirit (the karõ).
