Abstract The present is to cornplete a study on the digestive apparatus of Trichomycterus brasiliensis . The anatomic characteristics of its digestive tube show that it is a carnivorous species. This is supported by the presence of a large esophagus, a long stomach and a short i intestinal tube. Another important anatomic characteristic is the intestinal coefficient between 1,77 and 1,84. Species with this value, despite their varied died, are considered by many authors as fish that derive nutrition principally from animal sources.
