This research analysis aims at generating an x-ray on the former Law Enforcement Organizations (LEO) in El Salvador, including their structure, staffing, intelligence methods and techniques as well as relevant cases, with emphasis on the lessons learned over the course of their services. It is a histographic analysis that seeks to uncover previous experiences of previous organizations in terms of intelligence and the impact they generated. The objective is to contribute to the national debate on the strategic challenges that law enforcement faces on intelligence specialization, analyzing scope and limitations, so as to provide an advisory document with potential impact to formulating new solutions to specialization needs and work systems that support the National Civil Police and other intelligence organizations of the State
