This paper presents the results of an investigation whose objective was to determine the epidemiological behavior of cervix injuries in a public health institution in Matehuala, San Luis Potosí, from the 2010 to 2015.
A transversal and retrospective study was carried out, in which the records of the System of Information on Women's Cancer in the Altiplano Potosino were examined. In order for this, a non-probability sampling was conveniently applied for the selection of the sample. The prevalence of positive cases for cervical injuries by vaginal cytology was 10.3%, the predominant cytological diagnosis was the LEIBG-NIC 1 in 83.2%. The municipalities with the highest incidence were Matehuala, Cedral, Charcas, Moctezuma and Santo Domingo, but only in Matehuala and Moctezuma was the majority of cancer cases concentrated. One conclusion is that the behavior of cervical lesions in the Altiplano potosino follows a declining trend in recent years.
