The study is an attempt to investigate into the curriculums of the general education in Sudan and how they are developed and improved, and the challenges confronting them that are produced by globalization, and consequently to present some suggestions and recommendations on the question to the parties concerned with developing and improving curriculums.
The sample of the study included two groups the first of which was the leading educational and pedagogical officers in Sudan.
The second group, which was the purposive sample, included experts on curriculums in Sudan and they were 35.
In conducting the study, the researcher has used the descriptive method and a questionnaire as a tool for data collection.
The researcher implemented various inferential statistical methods to analyze and explain the data collectcd: Pearson half split was used for correlation- coelTiciency and Pcarman-Brown Prophecy for the reliability of the questionnaire, in addition to the percentage, T test and the ANOVA.
The study airived at *ianv results, the most important of which are that the current curriculums are traditional and lacking the spirit of the age.
Moreover, they do not satisfy the demands of the work market and they rcglect patriotism.
They have been developed via descending melhod.
The study recommends that the contents of the luture curriculums should include the developing of a balanced religious culture, recognition of human rights and the heavenly religions.
They should aim at educating the youngsters and to enable them to develop skills of negotiations and the ability to settle conflicts.
When developed, curriculums are confronted with such challenges like fighting illiteracy, teaching the knowledge of technology, and preparing generations that will be competent in dealing with culture.
Meanwhile, teachers should be well trained and well paid.
The study also recommends that curriculums, teaching methodologies, and methods of educational supervision should be revised and updated, and that the teachers, the educational officers and directors should contribute to the developing of curriculums.
In conclusion, the researcher recommends that curriculum^ should be connected with the work markets, and in developing curriculums, quality and quality control should be realized, and that the pattern of curriculums developing should be ascending
