Open AccessThe aim of the study was to determine the motivation levels of teachers working in primary school and the level of transformational leadership qualities of school principals based on the perceptions of teachers; and then the investigate of the relationship between teacher motivation and the transformational leadership qualities of school principals. The sample consists of 397 class teachers and subject matter teachers who were chosen randomly and work at the central boroughs of Ankara. As a result of the study, it was determined the motivation levels of teachers is “partly satisfied” whereas the transformational leadership characteristics level of school principals is “rarely.”At the end of the study, no meaningful relationship was found between the transformational leadership characteristics of school principals and the level of teacher motivation.
