In this work, the formation of the Taylor cone in high-vacuum electrospray ionization using a static magnetic mass-spectrometer was studied. A simple vacuum electrospray ionization source was designed and combined with a mass-spectrometer. The effect of the solution composition, flow rate, high voltage and temperature on the formation of charged liquid droplets was determined at highvacuum conditions.
