DEVELOPMENT OF DOMESTIC TOURISM INDUSTRY UNDER COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Туризм индустриясы қазіргі әлемдегі қарқынды дамып келе жатқан және экономиканың тиімді салаларының бірі болып табылады. Көптеген елдердің экономикасында туристік сала маңызды рөл атқарады, өйткені ол мемлекет бюджетіне негізгі кіріс әкеледі. Өкінішке орай, жақын аралықта бүкіл әлем дағдарысқа әкелетін мәселеге тап болғаны белгілі. Covid-19 пандемиясы адам өміріне ғана емес, әлемдік экономикаға да қатты әсер етті. Ұлттық экономиканың көптеген салалары пандемияның салдарын сезінді. The tourism industry is one of the fastest growing and most economically profitable areas in the modern world. In the economy of many countries, the tourism industry plays an important role, because it brings the main income to the state budget. Unfortunately, recently the whole world was faced with a problem that led to a crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact not only on human life, but also affected the global economy. Many sectors of the national economy have felt the effects of the pandemic. Among the industries that suffered the most losses due to the pandemic is the tourism sector, whose share is significantly higher compared to other sectors of the economy.The article examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the development of the tourism industry. Based on the data published by the World Tourism and Travel Council, the authors analyzed the quantitative indicators of the tourism economy. Indicators for foreign countries are presented, in particular for the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region, the share of tourism in gross domestic product and total employment is assessed, and the rate of change in tourist segments.The situation of the development of the international tourism sector in the Republic of Kazakhstan was considered, the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on inbound tourism was determined, and the statistical indicators of this industry were assessed.As recommendations for the development of the tourism industry, priority areas of tourism restructuring were identified: mitigating the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing the competitiveness of the industry through the development of tourism infrastructure and improving the quality of services, digitalization of the tourism industry, development of ecotourism and strengthening partnerships to achieve the goals transformation of this sector.
