Stroke is a clinical syndrome characterized byrapid onset of focal neurological signs that lasts formore than 24 hours or leads to death. Presumedvascular causes may be either infarction orhemorrhage. Stroke is the third most commoncause of death world wide and a major cause ofadult neurological disability.
