ENTRE O “POETA” E O “HISTORIADOR” – A PROPÓSITO DA FICÇÃO HISTÓRICA

História e ficção misturam-se desde a epopéia homérica. Aristóteles distinguiu “o poeta” do “historiador”, mas a distinção é hoje insatisfatória, em face das alterações processadas nos estatutos das duas práticas discursivas. O romance histórico, surgido no século XIX, também combinava matéria de extração histórica e dados estritamente ficcionais, recolocando o problema teórico dos limites entre história e ficção. A modernidade contestou o modelo do romance histórico “clássico”, romântico, especialmente quanto ao triunfalismo e ao distanciamento temporal do narrador. Este trabalho intenta tipificar a ficção histórica a partir de seus traços mais característicos. History and fiction are associated since the homeric epopee. Aristoteles differentiated the “poet” from the “historian”, but the distinction is not satisfactory nowadays, regardind the modifications occurred in these two discursive modalities. The historical novel of the 19th century also mixes historic subjects and pure invention, replacing the theoretical problem of the limits between history and fiction. Modernity contests the “classic” model of historical novel, romantic, especially as for the triunphing and temporal distance of the SIGNÓTICA: 13: 11-26, jan./dez. 2001 25 narrator.
