This is a descriptive study in a qualitativeperspective, with the objective to understand the meaning of humanizationassistance for a group of eight (8) nurses working in the Intensive CareUnits in Cuiabá-MT. The data had been collected through semi structuredinterviews, from july to august 2005, oriented by the following questions:How do you see the question of the humanization? How is this humanizationin your UTI? The analysis was based on thematic analysis technique andwas accomplished through three thematic points: the work of the nursingin UTI; the meaning of the humanization and the reality of the humanizationin the UTIs studied. Despite the nurses recognized the importance of givingan integral assistance, they still have daily work with innumerable difficultiesto accomplish a humanized assistance
