
METAFICÇÃO E A FORMAÇÃO DO JOVEM LEITOR NA LITERATURA INFANTIL E JUVENIL BRASILEIRA CONTEMPORÂNEA

The metafiction, defined by Linda Hutcheon as “fiction about fiction – that is, fiction that includes within itself a commentary on its own narrative and/or linguistic identity” (1984, p. 1), is a contemporary tendency in progressive expansion in children’s literature. It is questioned, however, in this article, if the narrative of metafictional nature allows the construction of a more critical and reflective reader. And, in case of an affirmative answer, it is also asked how this fracture in the traditional way of writing literature for children and youth can help the young reader to be conceived as a collaborator rather than a mere passive consumer of a literary work. In the attempt to answer such questions, the study will consider theoretical conceptions of Linda Hutcheon (1984) and Patricia Waugh (1984), regarding the metafiction, as well as the considerations of Teresa Colomer (2003) about the presence of metafictional strategies on current children’s literature. To achieve this aim, it is taken as object of study two pieces of work: “Fazendo Ana Paz” (1991) e “Retratos de Carolina” (2002), of Lygia Bojunga
