Among other types of language analysis – such as, for instance, content, semiotic, literary or image analyses – the need for understanding Discourse Analysis (henceforth DA) as a theoretical-methodological field and seek for the specific element that caracterizes it as discoursive, apart from other types of analysis, is the goal of this article. In this order, this text decided to draw a brief course to understand how a discoursive analysis works, how it is epistemologically created in a scientific field, in Pecheux’s perspective, to finally present it as a “critical” language analysis, focusing on the relation between Discourse and History
