Kidnapping of girls has become one of the most burning social problems of the Kyrgyz society. Today, Kyrgyz girls are kidnapped and married against their will. In total, from 10,000 to 15,000 girls are kidnapped in Kyrgyzstan every year. According to the UN, every fifth marriage in the republic is the result of bride kidnapping.
