The study was conducted to determine the reasons why special education students choose this department. The research data were collected by interview method. The study group consisted of students from the Department of Special Education of the Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabaev. As a result of the study, it was noticed that the majority of students enter the department because of their interest in this field and their desire to help people with special needs.
