Summary. In summary, habituation of normal oral resting posture and swallowing function must be the final result of orofacial myofunctional therapy. Habituation starts with goal setting at the initial visit, is augmented by purposeful repetitive exercises, and maintained by the activation of neuropathways to establish new but normal oral postures and functions.
