. The objective of the article was to evaluatethe relationship between the Covid-19 pandemic andglobalisation (GLO) and de-globalisation (de-GLO) tendencies.Based on a theoretical evaluation of this relationshipas well as historical development, it concludesthat Covid-19 is not the mother of de-GLO but its child, born in a completely new global context facilitating thepandemic. The roots of the pandemic’s conception aremore deeply embedded in the capitalist system, in itsprincipal elements (market system, consumerist developmentmodel…). GLO as a global division of labour isnot over; the factors enhancing GLO are winning overthose slowing it down, provided that GLO becomes moreegalitarian and more human. A fully-fledged de-GLOwould be inefficient and painful. While the pandemicis not a black swan, it could have been predicted. Suchan unprecedented crisis impersonated by the pandemicalso offers an opportunity to fundamentally rethink ofour theories, way of life and development paradigmand, not the least, the whole system to be better preparedfor future similar crises. Keywords: Globalisation, de-globalisation, Covid-19,development model, anthropocentrism, system, historyof GLO, future of GLO, post pandemic
