The authors study an urgent problem of our time-the transformation of University management in modern conditions in the context of modernization of higher education. The relevance of the research is caused by the need for further modernization of higher education in Kazakhstan, along with the development of the quality of education, the problems of University management become important.The purpose of the study: to determine the features of optimizing the management process of a modern University.The empirical base consists of research results analysis of a large number of qualitative and quantitative data collected in 2014-2016 by participants ofthe scientific project "Development of models of best practices of academic management and management in higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan" on the basis of which recommendations for improving the management system in Kazakhstan universities were developed.The results of the study will allow us to take a new look at the activities of universities in modern reality, and systematization of the observed changes in the business processes of universities will require the development of measures to create conditions for the transformation of higher education in the country in order to optimize the quality of the management process
