This ‘study’ seeks to explore the influence of microfinance on ‘women’ empowerment and the contribution of the ‘social work’ profession point of view. This paper used a qualitative research design, ‘focus group discussions’ and an interview schedule guide was used to obtain data. The ‘study’ was conducted in Chiradzulu district in Malawi, and 100 womenfrom four villages of Traditional Authority Nkalo participated in this study. The results of this ‘study’ presented in a manner that reflects the themes which were ‘grouped’ into four ‘domains’, financial security, ‘socio-economic’ empowerment and role of ‘social work’ on microfinance groups.
