India happens to be the third largest startup ecosystem in the world, in spite of thisonly 9% of startup founders are women (Source: Forbes article). The statement isenough to stir thoughts regarding the state of women owned business in the country.Considering the gender prejudice prevalent in our society it is important that thechallenges and problems of women owned business are paid its due attention. Thisdescriptive study highlights the work contributing to the various aspects of state ofwomen entrepreneurship and lists the various challenges faced by a womenentrepreneur at various levels. Further the study suggests constructive suggestion todeal with the stated problems and challenges and promote women participation inIndian entrepreneurial system
