Dr. Najīb al-Kiylānī is considered one of the foremost modern Islamic writers. He has written more than seventy books include novel, short story, poetry, criticism etc. He was a talented writer who mastered the necessary artistic tools; the main purpose of his writing was promoting goodness, virtue, tolerance and other human and Islamic values. His poetical works are free from any element of permissive-eness typical of poets. It is rather a poetry filled with concerns about the problems of the Muslim World. Al-Kiylānī was a well-known poet who left about nine books for us, six of them are published and four of them are unpublished. The published ones include: “Naḥwa’l-‘Ulā”̦“Aghānī al Ghurabā”̦Ᾱthār al-Shuhadā”̦ “Muhājir” Kaifa Alqāka” and “Madeenat al-kabāir”. The unpublished works include: “Al amal al-tareed”̦ “Lu᾿lu᾿at al Khalīj” and Ughnīyat al-Layl”. Al-Kiylānī’s poetical works are purposeful, depth, and mystical transparency which had a great influ-ence in the life of people that was one of the most splendid works. The poetry of Najīb al-Kiylānī, the writers notes are filled with an Islamic and sense of purpose.
