The purpose of this paper is to attempt to offer a proper re-evaluation of Cella Serghi’s literary debut and overall importance when it comes to Romanian literature. Her debut novel was extremely well-received by the Romanian readership; however, many of the critics dismissed her prose as being a reflection, or at least the result of Camil Petrescu’s guidance and influence. After examining the marginalisation and the unjust simplification that her prose suffered, the paper introduces some considerations on feminism in Romania, for a more accurate depiction of her significance.
