The article examines the role of idioms in the teaching of a foreignlanguage as well as modern methods of teaching them. Special attention ispaid to the use of idioms as one of the indicators of language proficiency. Theauthors introduce an interactive method of teaching idioms with the help ofpicture cards as one of the most effective methods, as well as other methodsand types of exercises that can be included in the teacher's teaching kit asadditional tools.
