The purpose of this article is to analyze ideas, principles andfundamental approaches, constituting the basis for the formation of a newstate general educational standard, as well as the to stimulate constructivediscussions in the field of the teaching community before the full and finalimplementation of the standard.The article examines the features of the content of education based oncompetencies and the final results that contribute to their formation, theinnovations of the proposed basic curriculum and the assessment system.As a result of the comparative analysis, the advantages of the newstandard and certain risks associated with the full perception of the ideasreflected in it and its implementation are presented.
