Anorectal Physiological Studies and Their Place in Clinical Use ABSTRACT Defecation is a complex process that is difficult to directly examine and analyze. In anorectal diseases, defecation function may be impared, resulting in associated symptoms such as incontinence and/ or constipation. Therefore, the need for physiologically relevant and easy- to- use diagnostic tests is important to identify the underlying mechanisms.
