This article aims to narrate the experienceof creation and development of the ContestadoOccupation from a more general context of urbanaccumulation of contradictions in the GreaterFlorianópolis region. Thus, it is intended toreflect theoretically on these contradictions,especially revealed by a socio-spatialsegregation process in the region, evaluating itsrelationship with the recent migration processes,population growth in major cities (Florianópolis,São José, Biguaçú and hut) and the resurgence ofthe struggle movement for housing, particularlythe Contestado Occupation. Based on fieldworkresearch, we present the main features of theirsocial demographics, seeking to assess to whatextent the experience of occupation of residentsexpress current trends in spatial mobility andintra-urban dynamics in the region
