This article analyzes the relevance and role of a translator-reader in the translation of French writer Maurice Blanchot, using the translation of Blanchot’s narrative Aminadab as a basis for examples. In the development of this article, the following themes will be addressed: Blanchot’s reading as the task of the translator (Benjamin), the question of re-creation and mourning in the translation context, the hospitality proposed by Jacques Derrida and the ethical work suggested by Emmanuel Levinas regarding the relationship established with the Other and, finally, the importance of being an experienced reader of the foreign work to be translated
