This study examines the progress and perspectives of infometrics and multidimensional indicators in the context of metric information studies. It is a literature which presents the theoretical contributions consolidated and emerging, relationships between methods and their contributions to understanding the structures of knowledge and of information flows today. Discusses the relevance of information visualization techniques to adequately represent the phenomena studied and indicates the trends of using infometrics and multidimensional indicators on the global scenario. Finish confirming the importance of infometrics to information analysis as social phenomena and shows the challenge of using multidimensional indicators for improvement of the metric information studies
