The project for public access to the roof of Santiago Cathedral so that visitors may visit and enjoy the experience is unique not only because it opens up to the public the less familiar parts of a monument but because of the extraordinary expertise, delicacy and sensibility put into practice in doing so. The author explains his initial reflection, the drawing up of the project and the building process, which permitted the combination of respect and scrupulous maintenance of the building with contemporary rehabilitations works that sought, in the author’s words, functionality, humility and honesty
