
Clinical Data Management in Japan Past, Present, and Future

In this article, we summarize 1) the history of clinical data management (CDM), 2) how different sectors function,3) educational activities for CDM professionals, and 4) the role of data management in biomedical research in Japan. Here, we explain the differences inroles of clinical data managers among those practicing in academic research organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and contract research organizations.The current status and issues of CDM in Japan are discussed, including training, education, and career paths for CDM professionals.
