Due to the lack of studies and researches dealing generally with « vaults» in the arab islamic countries, as well as its rarety, especially in the maghrib islamic cities, although, many researchers studied the urban fabric of the Arab Islamic cities . The appearance of the «vault» element was mainly due to the availability of local building materials and their appropriate exploitation. Vaults also appeared as a result to the prevailing climatic conditions in Islamic cities which provided a shelter from heat and rain to the passersby. Many historical, Political, Social, economic and religious factors participated in the appearance of vaults.
