Algeria has adopted a policy of integrated waste management, In order to enhance the sustainability of the waste, the National Agency for Waste was established, which ensures that it carries out its tasks to the fullest, from providing assistance to local groups to establishing a national bank of information on waste and disseminating sorting and recycling programs. To measure the extent of achieving sustainable development in this sector, we chose a set of environmental, economic and institutional indicators: tons of solid waste per day, percentage of recycled solid waste, and the National Strategy for Sustainable Development. The study finally concluded that the National Waste Agency is working to implement the requirements of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development in terms of coordination, training, awareness and preservation of resources.
