
Increased Notification of Tuberculosis Cases and MDR and XDR Cases Post Introduction of CBNAAT in Rajasthan: A Retrospective Case Study of 4 Years from 2015-2018

Context: Tuberculosis is a major health problem in India.Accurate and also fast diagnosis of tuberculosis has remaineda challenge and we determined the impact of CBNAAT onnotification of tuberculosis cases in Rajasthan.Aims: The Aim of the present Study was use of CBNAAT intuberculosis and impact on rate of detection of TB and MDRand XDR TB in Rajasthan.Methods and Material: We did a retrospective study of notifiedtuberculosis cases registered in government and privatehospital from 2015 to 2018.comaprison was done for these 4yearsResults: There was a total increase of 57 percent over theperiod of 4 years from 2015 to 2018 in no of tuberculosisnotified cases and during the same time there was a 51 percentand 66 percent increase in the number of MDR and XDRtuberculosis cases respectively.Conclusion: Use of CBNAAT significantly increases the no ofnotified cases of tuberculosis along with MDR and XDR casesas we recommend that it should be widely adopted andexpanded.
