Flipped classroom is a teaching method wherethe students are involved in pre class preparations like watchingrelated videos of lectures, reading relevant books and classtime is utilized for clarifying doubts, discussion, class activityand problem solving Objectives: To compare traditionalclassroom lecture with Flipped classroom and to study theeffectiveness and acceptability of the Flipped classroomapproach in teaching Pharmacology. Methods: Second yeardental students were divided into two groups-A and B of 37each. Group A students, were given videos and voice overpower point through Google group and What’s app group onAntiepileptic drugs and after two weeks they were exposedto Flipped class using think pair and share class activity whilegroup B students were given traditional lecture class onantiepileptic drugs. Both groups knowledge was comparedusing a post test questionnaire and group A studentsperception on flipped class was assessed using a three pointLikert’s questionnaire. Mean score between the two groupswas compared using Man Whitney U test and p < 0.005 wasconsidered as statistically significant. Results: 86% studentspreferred flipped class over conventional class and 95% likedthink pair and share activity as it guided them in deeperunderstanding of the subject. Mean score was better amongstudents involved in flipped class when compared to lectureclass. Conclusion: Dental students had a good learningexperience with the Flipped classroom method as it allowedthem to learn at their pace and also guided them to applylearned information accurately
