There is increased demand for doctors in India andelsewhere throughout the world. Considering this, thegovernment of India has taken initiatives to increase thenumber of medical colleges, thereby produce enough medicalgraduates to cater to the ever-increasing population of thecountry. Also, there is a debate over the quality of medicaleducation provided by medical institutions. Therefore, theNational medical council (NMC), the statutory body institutedby the government of Indiafor governing medical practice andeducation, had taken several initiatives to improve the quality. One among them is the introduction of Medical EducationTechnology (MET) as a mandatory requirement for the teachingfaculty. Another significant development in this direction is thechange of curriculum that focuses more on themandatorystudent’s competencies in the patient managementperspective. The new curriculum creates a space for studentsto perform research projects for a period of two months afterthe completion of the third year of study. We, therefore presenta clear perspective on the teacher, learners’ attitudes alongwith the overview of benefits and types of research.
