In India the organized trauma care services are restricted onlyto tertiary care centres and golden hour trauma care is oftendelayed. We decided to create awareness among the MBBSstudents by teaching basic trauma management skills sincethey are the first responders to a trauma victim brought toany hospital setup. This would help improve primary traumacare.Aim: To assess the improvement in knowledge, attitude andpractice after primary trauma care workshop in MBBS studentsMethods and Material: A one day primary trauma careworkshop was conducted in our institute for two consecutiveyears during the annual academic undergraduate conference2018 and 2019 respectively. The MBBS students enrolled weregiven a questionnaire to solve before and after the workshop. They received a lecture on triage and hands-on practice onPrimary survey, log roll & cervical spine stabilization, Airwaymanagement, Intravenous fluids & shock management andBasic life support.Statistical analysis: The pre and post workshop questionnaireswere statistically analyzed by paired t-test using softwareversion SPSS 20.0 and a P value of < 0.05 was consideredstatistically significant. Results: Pre workshop 9.9% and 10.5% of the students hadabove average total score in 2018 and 2019 respectively whichincreased to 67.6% and 78.5% post workshop. The meanKnowledge, Attitude and Practice scores also improvedindividually. Conclusion: We should include such workshops in theundergraduate curriculum, it would improve primary traumacare and will reduce trauma related morbidity and mortality
