The article is devoted to the history and theory of ancient technological features of embroidery in the works of traditional applied art of the North-West of Russia (Leningrad, Vologda, Novgorod and Pskov regions). The author analyzes various techniques, ornaments, and color solutions of traditional embroidery. Describing a kind of technological variety of embroidery skill, the author believes that the artistic merits of embroidery in the North-West of Russia is the brightest page in the world history of art.
