Performance standardization is nowadays largely used in economic and social life while education itself, despite the rationalisation difficulties corresponding to a highly complex activity. An in-depth analysis of the most important theoretical papers highlights the interes of researchers in creating a common language to evaluate teachers based on professional standards and helps us to identify the evolution of the standardization process.The present paper aims at presenting some methodological guiding points for development the performance standards according to the professional stages of the teachers career.
