This study aims to describe and analyze the verbal communication behavior of the freelance driver guide in Kuta, Bali. A good tour guide will help tourists in having a memorable vacation. A tour guide provides assistance, information, and organizes tours. A tour guide is required to have good verbal communication skill because a tour guide is considered as the central agent in the tourism industry. Therefore, a tour guide has to pass the certification test to get a license as a professional tour guide. Thecertification process is not easy to pass, so nowadays there are many freelance driver guides are found in Bali, especially in Kuta. The theory of communication is used in this study. This study is conducted by using descriptive qualitative method in which the discussion was presented descriptively. The result showed that the context of communication which occurred in the communication process between freelance driver guide and the tourist is interpersonal communication. Non-formal standard English is used by the freelance tour guide to give explanations and information. Meanwhile, the use of registers is more formal in accordance with the rules of tourist guiding.Keywords: Communication Behavior, Communication Contexts, Verbal Communication
