A gender-equal society would be one where the word 'gender' does not exist: where everyone can be themselves.” – a quote given by Gloria Steinem, an American activist. Gender inequality is one of the most common problems across the world. This paper is going to focus on this perspective in Shashi Deshpande’s The Darks Holds No Terrors and Taslima Naslin’s French Love. These novels represent the perspective of Indian society regarding how gender of an individual affects their living.
