STYLE D’ÉDUCATION ET LES PERFORMANCES SCOLAIRES DES ÉLÈVES EN LIEN AVEC LA TAILLE ET LA STRUCTURE FAMILIALE - UNE ÉTUDE AUPRÈS DES ÉLÈVES DE 4IÈME AU TOGO / EDUCATION STYLE AND SCHOOL PERFORMANCE OF STUDENTS IN RELATION TO FAMILY SIZE AND STRUCTURE - A STUDY OF 4TH GRADE STUDENTS IN TOGO

L’objectif de cet article est de vérifier s’il existe une relation entre le style d’éducation et les performances scolaires en fonction de la taille et le structure de la famille. Pour atteindre cet objectif, un échantillon de 944 élèves est constitué à l’aide de la technique d’échantillonnage non probabiliste « tout-venant ». Les participants ont répondu à un questionnaire sociodémographique et à l’échelle du style parental de Steinberg et al. (1992) traduit en français par Deslandes et al. (1995). Les données recueillies ont été soumises aux traitements statistiques avec le calcul des tests t de Student, F de Snédécor et r de Pearson. Les résultats obtenus confirment que non seulement le style d’éducation et les performances sont liés à la structure familiale mais aussi les deux variables sont positivement corrélées. En revanche, les résultats ne montrent pas de relation entre le style d’éducation d’une part, les performances scolaires d’autre part et la taille de la famille.    The aim of this article is to check whether there is a relationship between the style of education and school performance according to the size and structure of the family. To achieve this objective, a sample of 944 students is drawn up using the non-probability "non-random" sampling technique. Participants responded to a socio-demographic questionnaire and to the scale of parenting style of Steinberg et al. (1992) translated into French by Deslandes et al. (1995). The data collected were subjected to statistical processing with the calculation of the Student's t tests, F of Snédécor and r of Pearson. The results confirm that not only education style and performance are related to family structure, but also that the two variables are positively correlated. On the other hand, the results do not show a relationship between neither the style of education on the one hand and school performance on the other hand and the size of the family.   Article visualizations:
