В статье освещаются малоизвестные вехи биографии, трагическая судьба и деятельность С.Г. Каргинова в области этнографического осетиноведения. Проанализированы информативные этнографические статьи и очерки, опубликованные героем статьи в периодической печати Кавказа в конце ХIX – начале XX в. Рассмотрены его фольклорные материалы, публицистические очерки. Показан вклад, который внес С.Г. Каргинов в изучение этнографии осетин The article highlights little-known milestones in his biography, the tragic fate and activities of S.G. Karginov in the fi eld of ethnographic Ossetian studies.
