Статья посвящена происхождению осетинского народа и дискуссиям, ко-торыми сопровождалась данная проблема на протяжении длительного времени. В нейпредставлено несколько версий происхождения осетинского народа, которые бытова-ли не только в отечественной исторической науке, но и в общественно-политическойсреде, особенно в XVIII – первой половине XIX вв. Приводятся мнения по этому вопросуГюльденштедта, Гакстгаузена, Пфафа, Шегрена, Миллера, других известных и мало-известных ученых. Особое значение придается концепции Всеволода Миллера, а такжеЮлиуса Клапрота, убедительно показавших генетическую взаимосвязь средневековыхалан Северного Кавказа с современными осетинами. The article is devoted to the origin of the Ossetian people and the discussions that have accompanied thisproblem for a long time. The author shows the existence of several versions of the origin of the Ossetian people, whichexisted not only in the Russian historical science, but also in the socio-political environment in the XIX-XX centuries.The opinions of Güldenstädt , Haxthausen, Pfaff, Sjögren, Miller and other well-known and little-known scientists aregiven on this issue. Particular importance is attached to the concept of Vsevolod Miller, as well as Julius Klaproth, whoconvincingly showed the genetic relationship of the medieval Alans of the North Caucasus with modern Ossetians.
