Iron(II) and sulfide data are presented for a seasonally anoxic marine basin. An operational solubility product, pK nbs sp = a Fe 2+ · a hs ‐/(H + )* = 2.76–3.04, is calculated and found to be consistent with values for seasonally anoxic freshwater systems and with the laboratory values for amorphous ferrous sulfide. These results show that the solubility is not affected by ionic strength and that in such dynamic systems no appreciable aging of the solid phase is apparent.
