Two sediment traps designed for use in riverine gravels to assess rates, size, and gross quantities of sedimenting material and each having a collecting area of 40 cm 2 are small, easy to construct and to handle. The results of the two types of traps used in the gravel bed of a recirculating channel are compared and recovery efficiencies are given based on laboratory experiments.
