The copepods in plankton samples from 48 lakes in East and Central Africa were identified and the conductivity ( k 20 ) of the epilimnion of each lake was determined. A range, mean, and standard deviation were calculated for the conductivity of the waters in which each copepod species was found. There appears to be a definite range of conductivities in which each species can maintain a viable population.
