Daphnia hyalina var lacustris (Sars) was concentrated near the surface midway between the foamlines of Langmuir circulations that developed in a shallow reservoir at wind speeds above 400 cm sec −1 . Such concentration was probably caused by the antagonistic factors of upward water transport carrying D. hyalina to the surface zone and orientated movements away from this region of high light intensity.
