A calibration system is described consisting of a circular tank with a rotating arm from which a flowmeter is suspended and towed at speeds that can be varied up to 250 cm/sec (5 knots). The velocity of the water movement that is generated by the friction of the moving flowmeter is measured and subtracted from the flowmeter speed to arrive at the correct calibration factor.
