The variation of zinc peak current with p H in the voltammetric analysis of seawater is interpreted in terms of a metal‐ligand model. The model indicates that at the upper range of pH values in seawater, a substantial fraction of the zinc is present in complex forms. Preliminary field data are presented which suggest that these complexes may occur in the open ocean.
